And who would be on said shortlist? The "popular" or "uber" people, as you so named them. Jeff should just watch chat for about a week and give the modship to who uphold the rules the most, and if no one does, give it to no one.
Basically, the way Rwk works now works for most people. Mods would just bring a downer on the whole game.

Well possibly yes, but it would at least reduce the amount of people Jeff has to look at.

You forget that there are mods that play currently already for one. Secondly if they abuse their power then all their **** gets banned, so as long as the person cares and has assets then it'd be easy.

I think Jeff needs to look at how active players are and how long they have been playin RWK there is no point giving players that have been here only 1 or 2months MOD rights because they wont be 100% sure about RWK

I'd still be worried that you'd get muted for anything. Stand up to a mod? BAM! You just got muted. Do something they don't like? BAM! You just got muted. They don't even like you? BAM! You just got muted.
Overall, mods are just a bad idea. Jeff had mods a while back, and he got rid of them. Sure, the odd noob who hasn't read the rules might break one or two, but a quick flame from half of chat usually sorts it out and he doesn't do it again.

Except where the dude thinks he is uber 1337 for standing up to everyone and breaking the rules. Which seems to happen a lot these days.

watching chat is still the best way to pick mods, hands down, and i think lurkers should be the basic list, look at those who do not tie into everyone elses ****, hat way they would be fair, and i agree with Ant's reply there are alot of people out there that would abuse thier power, and Noobs shouldn't even be in consideration, must have atleast sos to be considered, activity is a good thing to look for, but not 100%. lets be honest here chars are bought and sold, so going on the fact of which chars have been here the longest isn;t good eather. New owners of old chars could be just as dumb.

You all keep saying mods would abuse their power, well i remind you yet again there have always been and currently are mods... they just dont have any real power except being able to spam you. it's not that hard to send an email to jeff saying you were unfairly muted. he even tells you to do it. do you think someone like steen would get all of his stuff banned just because he was pissed and muted a few people because he didnt like them? regardless i'd still rather have corrupt mods than see noobs able to do whatever the **** they want.

the level requirement is, in my oppinion, is dumb. just because they are low level chars like me, does not mean they are not experienced...I am one of the few original players since after the Beta Tests, I would hate to see someone who has been playing for only a year or so become a mod then destroy the place. If anything, I would say that mods need to have a popular vote to get the job. I for one rather would role play more than level and my seven or so years play has shown me many people get banned for stupidity mostly Macroing and trying to hack the game.

Assuming Jeff cares enough to check his email I fail to see how a mod could "destroy the place". It's not that hard to send an email saying "mods are unfairly muting everyone". Mods shouldn't have ban powers or anything more than mute.
And yeah I hope by now most people realize that level means nothing when it comes to experience and being a noob, etc.

Once again we all know people buy chars, so why should level justify being a mod. you could basically buy your way in, and that is not right, any noob with a good PP acount could get a mod job, and still not know s*** all about the game. Mute powers are good, maybe even a daily Ban power would be nice. and warnings should be given, i know and i bet you have too type incorectly and ended up auctioning in shout by accident, or typed to fast and did multiple posts. we are all guilty of breaking the rules on purpose or by accident.

But honestly, where could a mod draw the line to judge whether something is punishable? If they change the rules in order to enable enforcement too much, then people may stop playing because of it and in contrast, if the rules aren't changed enough, then there is no point to them. Mods should be something that is implemented immediately and left consistant throughout the game, or not created at all IMO.

If it's against the rules, it's punishable. How hard is that to understand? The rules are there for a reason. Mods can't change the rules or make up new ones.

It's not even buying in that makes level worthless - any retard can sit there and level for a month and get to the cap.. that doesn't make you good at the game, or know anything about the game or anything at all really.

I like the idea of mods.. Would be good to have some people enforceing them as the retards that inhabit chat just piss everyone off, which does affect gameplay.
People just want to enjoy themselves and go about their buissness without the hassle of some retard breaking every rule thinkable and spamming the living hell out of chat and getting away with it.

Yes it affects gameplay to the point where it motivates me to take an entire plane (sur) so noobs have no reason to play. As of todays s2 sur map 41,180 KDs (46%) is owned or controlled by me.... and i've been lazy for a few months. woooooooh

I think MODS would be a great idea. And I agree with the 'popular vote', and then Jeff deciding who he thinks would best benefit the game.
