Poker Bots

Any chance the poker bots being run on S2 are going to be dealt with? I think it's pretty clear they're running on macros and clearing a lot of ash every day for the owner. If they persist it's likely to just encourage more players to use them, which I think will be bad for the game overall. Maybe the security checks should start using a Turing test, like those partly masked text strings the player needs to read and repeat. Or actually go back to having some mods for this who can pm a suspected bot and then ban or flag it for action when it fails to reply.

I'm not sure why, but these bots seem to bother me more than any other exploit I remember being used in the game.

There are no security checks for poker actions which is why they are not having any problems doing this. This was originally done to allow people to play poker on an alt without having to pay attention and worry about getting banned but that may need to be changed if people are abusing it.

Ahh, that would make it easier than with the checks. I thought a comment Tobeszijian made about his macros being able to pass security checks referred to poker as well as other actions but I might have misunderstood, or missed some of that chat. If you watch poker on S2 for a while you'll see that a lot of ash or runes are being collected automatically there. Making poker trigger security checks would be a worthwhile attempt to curb the bots.

Thanks very much for banning the poker bots and their puppet master. Makes a signifcant improvement to the game.
