wow, you're good at being wrong, there are alot of lag spikes at all hours that come and go, and i have a quad core intel with 6gig, so maybe if you weren't so sarcastic and actually tried to help when you post, it would be refreshing.

post some screenshots of ping/traceroutes durring these lag spikes and you might get some help... If you ***** over a 90ms ping theres nothing anybody can do for you except tell you to get a T1.

it's not a constant lag, it has hour long spikes, and i will take some screen shots. however, I have comcast cable internet, and never have this problem on other sites. When shout is filled with everyone asking about lag, how bad it got all of a sudden, and NOT during DMU, obviously it's not the need for a T1 line, there is a server issue. It's not unplayable, but it's the same as before the server moved and right after it moved.

Like I said, post some screenshots of traceroute/ping durring the lag and it can be pinpointed, saying the server lags gets you no where. the server does not lag. a connection somewhere probably does. and without the proper information it can never be found.

For ****s sake stop repeating what Jeff said as if it were your own. It is very explicit when a computer is causing problems and network issues are causing problems. (SPIKES aren't hardware related unless you have something heavy running in the background eating resources) I don't necessarily believe everyone has top notch hardware but if you think you need the damn powerhouse you have you're out of your mind. Likewise if someone has a computer in poor enough shape that they notice performance hits during online browsing I am sorry to hear that.

I can definitely agree that there are spikes but there are so many variables involved it is hard to identify. (Even more so if you're wireless) For me the only time I feel a hit on RWK performance outside of random spikes is during high traffic on the server. (i.e. acumen)

I would advise almost anybody to make sure their local connection is clean with no extraneous connections, that their ISP provided them with the correct equipment and your connection is clean on the ISP's end, and that their hardware is always properly maintenanced both inside the box and inside the OS. What you're going to find when these things are done is that unfortunately there's most often nothing you or Jeff can do to improve your RWK performance. Such is life on the tubes.

I run a dedicated server just like Jeff, It is anoying as hell when people just complain about the serve rlagging when it is nowhere near the server that is causing the lag. With a tracert and ping it can be pinpointed where the spot of lag is. Therefore once it is pinpointed the right people can be contacted to resolve it. As long as the line of conflict is on a main line and not a POS ISP then it can usually be fixed with a few phone calls.

Ya and sometimes it has nothing to do with a connection at all and it's either related to local hardware/software or something on the server/in the code. My concern was your inclination to act like the provider of whatever service people are using are never at fault. I have a great example in that I work for a company with flakey programmers so even on our damned intranet we have constant connection issues with a T1 between our offices. (Don't even get me started on that situation =\)

Tracert/pings are definitely not the be all/end all. They are merely an extremely basic tool that will provide data in very particular situations.
