How about this.
Mining your ashen rocks. You must purchase a pick axe from game $10-25. You get to mine your rock every 24 hours and it will net a certain amount of ash that ranges from say 500-1500 also with a chance of cracking the rock and granting the full amount of a cracked rock (dependent on the color of the rock). Caveat is the pick axe has a change of shattering and then you'd have to buy another one.
Also when a rock cracks from this display a message so other players can be jealous! :P
